Spiraling deep into a mantra of acoustoelectric drone, Austin-based ambient duo FiRES WERE SHOT push the technical and conceptual definition of songwriting on their latest single “Dripping Bright.” For over twenty years, John Wilkins and Clay Walton have been processing acoustic guitar duets through a gamut of colorful effects and tape manipulation to produce experimental pieces rife with beautifully organic chaos. Recorded live onto a four-track tape machine, “Dripping Bright” slowly builds layers of looping feedback into an ocean swell of colliding textures, climaxing into a singular eclipsing mass of sonic bliss. FiRES WERE SHOT once again demonstrate true mastery and control of their technique as they explore the seemingly limitless possibilities of the acoustic guitar.

"Mend" could be one of the most beautiful guitar ambient records of the last 20 years. Putting it on never fails to elicit goosebumps and yugen-like memories. FiRES WERE SHOT
